Spring 2024

"Nothing ventured, nothing gained." This is a case study I did in one of my UX design classes at UTD. For a semester, my team and I created a program called Venture in order to re-engage Gen-Z accountants. In the first few weeks, we researched the accounting industry to determine our target audience. Once that was established, we conducted surveys and then set up interviews with the responses that intrigued us. After attending a meeting for Forvis, we realized a common theme: boredom. Forvis explained how they had a sort of exchange program for their interns so that if they got bored working in one industry, they could try out another. Though this was a smart work-around to Gen-Z's notoriously short attention span, our research showed us that the boredom wasn't happening in internships, but in the workforce itself- specifically a few years after starting a new job. Thus, the purpose of Venture was born, and our creativity began flowing. We made wireframes, user flows, conducted usability tests, and then finalized the layout of the website. My role as the lead designer was to create logos, typefaces, and decide on general branding for the website like typography and a color palette. The project we were assigned would be pitched to some of Intuit's UX designers as if it were to be produced by Intuit, so I knew our branding couldn't be too astray from their branding guidelines. Our team decided on purple because it represents mystique, intrigue, and ambition and because the other companies Intuit owned were blue, yellow, and green.
